Zoning | Rural/Vacant Land - All residential structures may do, but anything over 200 square feet requires a building permit. In order to camp on your property, you must obtain a Temporary RV Permit. Property owner(s) can stay on their property 'tent camping' for 10 days. And upto 6 months in RV's, in which a property owner can stay on their property with the regulation of the property having an existing septic system. After the permit expires you must remove the RV off the property and reapply the following calendar year. You may install a manufactured home on the property. All foundations for the manufactured homes must be drawn by a licensed engineer in Colorado and you must have a licensed installed in Colorado set the home. All singles-wides must go through a special use and be at least 15 years old or newer. For multi-section homes older than 1976 are not allowed in the County. No dumping of raw sewage and hazardous chemicals on the property. Horses, mules, donkeys, cattle, rabbits, goats, sheep and poultry or other fowl are allowed on all parcels one acre or larger but they are not allowed to create a health hazard or nuisance to surrounding properties. Parcels less than two acres cannot have more than a total of two of the following per acre: horses, mules, donkeys, cows, goats or sheep with the exception of young animals of less than six months of age provided they are the offspring of mature animals on the property. Up to ten chickens are allowed in every district of Alamosa County and more are allowed in Rural (RU) zoned districts. The following requirements apply: Chickens must be provided with a covered, properly ventilated and predator-resistant chicken coop. Chicken coops and outdoor enclosures shall be regularly cleaned to control dust, odor and waste and must not constitute a nuisance, safety hazard, or health problem to surrounding properties. |
