The nearby town of Beatty was named for J. L. Beatty, a missionary who lived nearby when the area was in the Klamath Indian Reservation. Beatty actually had a station on the Oregon, California and Eastern Railway, back in the day. Note: This property was on the very edge of the Bootleg fire in July of 2021. The brush was burned off this property which make for easier access to the whole property. The larger trees do have some burned areas lower on the trunks, but most of the larger trees appear to be in good condition and will likely live on.
