Just a few miles east of the New Mexico border and about 70 miles west of Lubbock lies the quaint town of Bledsoe, Texas. If off the grid living is what you are seeking then Bledsoe is a perfect fit. The town is named for Samuel T. Bledsoe, the railroad’s president. As a ranching community, Bledsoe benefited from the railroad and soon became a cattle-shipping center.

The area boasts the beauty of the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge. Here you can watch a variety of wildlife, hike the property, camp overnight, or enjoy photographing the varied terrain and many animals. The refuge encompasses over 6,000 acres as part of the National Wildlife Refuge System – a national network of lands and waters set aside for the benefit of wildlife, habitat and you.

Join the about 100 residents in a beautiful rural community where you can get away and build a life of your own. It’s 25 miles southwest of the county seat of Cochran County, Morton, Texas. Cochran County offers multiple hunting seasons for over a dozen different species in the area. Be sure to check with Texas Parks & Wildlife for hunting limits and restrictions. 

While there is no road leading directly to the lot, you can access the property with 4-wheel drive or off road vehicles. There’s currently no zoning in Cochran County, so you have no building restrictions and can camp or park your RV on your property for as long as you like.
