Texas Terrain and Mountain Views As Far As the Eye Can See

The area that encompasses Culberson County is a major destination for outdoor enthusiasts and big game hunters. Plus, it doesn’t get more scenic than 360 degree mountain views from your almost 25 acres property. Nearby Guadalupe Mountains National Park is home to Texas’ highest mountain, Guadalupe Peak, which soars to 8750 feet. Its twin peak is known as El Capitan and is just a bit shorter at 8085 feet.

While the town of Van Horn offers small town restaurants, attractions and history, you can also easily get into El Paso for all of your big city needs. The area was named after David B. Culberson, a lawyer and Confederate soldier in the American Civil War. Culberson was also a Democratic U.S. Representative from Texas and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

Hunters can take part in the “Big Buck” tournament every June or do some archery and gun mule deer hunting in the Sierra Diablo Wildlife Management Area – a sanctuary for the last remaining desert bighorn sheep in Texas. Big Bend National Park is another great place to explore and take a guided driving and hiking tour of the area.

The terrain definitely lends itself to camping and you can camp in an RV for up to 30 days without a permit. But not to worry, if you want to camp for longer, you can apply for a permit to do so as long as you have a septic system.

There are no zoning restrictions, size minimums or time limits for building on your lot. You can choose site built, mobile, modular, or manufactured homes. You must have a septic system, and you can have a well dug or a water haul system. With no power lines nearby, power would have to be supplied by solar panels, wind, or a generator.
