Ozark Lake Country, Reachable This Time
You've probably filed the lake-community idea under "someday," the kind of thing for people who can write a check for a second home without flinching. Good ground in the Ozarks usually comes with a price that ends the conversation before it starts.
This lot starts a different conversation. It's a wooded ridge in Ozark Acres, the kind of spot where you clear a place, run power from the road, and put up a real cabin you own outright. Weekend cabin builder, someday-retiree, a family chasing a lake summer, the fellow who wants a fishing hole without a lake-house mortgage? Every one of them fits here. You build the place first, then argue with yourself over which of the two lakes gets the canoe.
Ozark Acres was platted back in the 1960s as a private lake community, and two owner-only lakes still come with the territory: man-made Lake Vagabond, open seasonally for fishing and swimming, and spring-fed Spring Lake, both kept for property owners. Williford and Hardy sit a few minutes down the road, and the Spring River, a well-known trout and smallmouth stream, runs right through Hardy.
Here's the straight version. This is a build-a-home lot, not a park-the-camper-and-call-it-living lot, and the community passes on mobile homes and full-time RV setups, which is the very thing that keeps it a neighborhood instead of a campground.
Plenty of folks drive past this part of the Ozarks their whole lives. Fewer wake up on a ridge that's theirs, with a lake down the road and nobody to answer to but the morning.
