Your Own Power Plant on Flat Ground
Some folks want land to get away. You want land to prove a point: that you can run a place on your own sun, your own water, and your own know-how, without a bill showing up every month to argue about it.
This is 1.286 flat acres at about 5,550 feet, with open sky in every direction (the panels won't have to share). Set the array, the water tank, and the battery bank first, then build around them, whether that's a cabin, a modular, or a house you frame yourself. Flat ground means your weekends go to building, not grading.
Holbrook is about 30 minutes away for parts and groceries. It's also where the Hashknife Pony Express starts every winter: riders sworn in as honorary mail messengers carry real U.S. mail more than 200 miles on horseback to Scottsdale, a tradition going since the late 1950s (the original off-grid delivery service).
The trade is the dirt road in, which gets interesting after a summer monsoon. That's a good excuse to finally buy the bigger tires.
There's an old satisfaction in flipping a switch and knowing exactly where the power came from. Out here, it comes from right over your head.
